The School of Veterinary Medicine-Interdisciplinary Comparative Medicine Graduate Program (SVM-ICMGP) is a doctoral program that provides an avenue to individuals with professional degrees (D.V.M., M.D., D.D.S., .Pharm D, biomedical engineering etc.,) with or without clinical residency training to earn a Ph.D. degree in whole body-based biomedical investigation. The program uses a combination of experiential and classroom learning to prepare new Ph.D. scientists to step immediately into productive roles as directors of research in private industry, government and principal investigators in academia. Graduates of the program will be prepared to cope and adapt to new challenges. The students participate in the design of their education and training process to meet their unique career goals and/or specific interests. Students enrolled in the program are counseled to work closely with their major professors and members of their respective dissertation committees to develop/attain the necessary tools/skill sets consistent with their career goals. The program is suitable for veterinarians, physicians, dentists, pharmacists as well as for biomedical engineers with an interest in comparative medicine. |
