ACCREDITATION STATUS
PURDUE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINE

Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine is fully accredited by the Council of Education (COE) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Full accreditation is granted for seven years for schools/colleges that meet the rigorous standards outlined. Our next accreditation visit is scheduled for the year 2011.

The accreditation process requires outcomes assessments of various aspects of the program. One such outcome assessment deals with performance on the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). Students in the final year end of their veterinary medical education must pass this examination to become licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the United States. Veterinary schools with less than 80% pass rate on the NAVLE are subject to loss of accreditation. Purdue veterinary medical students (Class of 2009) pass rate for this exam was 100%. .
