Prerequisites:
Applications for graduate study are accepted from
graduates of veterinary, medical, dental, and pharmacy schools,
or from those having undergraduate training in biological, biochemical,
and engineering sciences. A combined degree program also is available
for students enrolled in the DVM or MD programs.
Fields of Study
The department offers graduate study leading to
the Master’s of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in
the basic medical sciences (i.e., veterinary or human anatomy, histology,
embryology, neuroanatomy, physiology, or pharmacology). Supporting
courses are available (within the department and University) in
the disciplines of anatomy, biochemistry, bionucleonics, biophysics,
computer science, genetics, mathematics, microbiology, nutrition,
oncology, pathology, pharmacokinetics, statistics, tissue culture,
and other areas of biological and physical sciences. Qualified professional
(DVM/MD/DDS) students may pursue a combined graduate degree (MS./PhD)
program.
Foreign Language Requirement
The department has no foreign language requirement,
but individual advisors may implement such a requirement.
