Following the signing of the MOU with Ain Shams, Dr. Seham Moustafa, Head Department of Botany at Ain Shams University, visited Purdue on August 6-30, 1996. She met with the heads of Departments of Botany and Plant Pathology, Department of Agronomy, Department of Horticulture, and also with twenty professors. An international workshop, that will address areas for potential collaboration in research was agreed upon. The workshop will to be conducted in Egypt in 1997.
Professor Kamel Ajlouni, President and Dr. Ahmed Abu-ElHaija, Vice President of Jordan University of Science and Technology visited Purdue on August 1-2, 1995 to discuss amendment of the MOU Purdue has signed with JUST, training of graduate students in Pharmacy and Veterinary clinical sciences and to invite Purdue faculty to conduct three workshops in Jordan on Tillage, Theriogenology and Multimedia in veterinary medical education.
Dr. Odeh Alrawashdeh, the current Head of Clinical Sciences Department at JUST, Spent two years (1994, 1995) at Purdue SVM to learn about the modern large animal surgical and medical techniques, and delivery of quality animal care. He also conducted research with Dr. Kenyon and Dr. Nour on Herd Expansion, and with Dr. Nour, Dr. Kenyon, Dr. Patterson (ANSC), Dr. Saeed (VPB), and Dr. Hester (ANSC) on effect of Oligossaccharides feeding on blood hematological and metabolic profiles of Broiler chickens
Dr. Khaliha, of Ain Shams University, visited Purdue in August-Sept. 1996 to continue his work with Dr. Nour, Roesel, Coppoc and Harrington on development of multimedia resources on CD-ROMs using Toolbook 5.0 and the authoring system (VAGUS) developed by Dr. Roesel (Basic Medical Sciences), and to experiment, with Dr. Nour, with the World Wide Web for delivery of courses to students in the Middle East.
Dr. Zahra Moustafa, Assistant Professor of Linguistics at JUST, came as a Fulbright scholar to Purdue (August, 1996) to research the importance of communication on success of international collaborative projects (Dr. Vorst was the host)
