Tenure-track Faculty Position
Assistant Professor of Veterinary Pathology

The Department of Comparative Pathobiology at Purdue University (www.vet.purdue.edu/cpb) invites applications for an academic-year (9-months), tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Veterinary Pathology. Responsibilities of the position include developing an independent research program in pathobiology with a preferred focus on infectious diseases and teaching pathology in the veterinary curriculum. Participation in the pathology graduate training programs is also expected. Applicants must have a D.V.M. (or equivalent) and Ph.D. in pathology or other discipline related to infectious diseases. Preference will be given to candidates certified in anatomic pathology by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Candidates certified by the European or Japanese College of Veterinary Pathologists also will be considered.

The Department of Comparative Pathobiology has 38 faculty members and approximately 50 graduate students. Faculty members have expertise and research interest in microbiology, virology, immunology, vaccine development, parasitology, pathology, cancer, public health, and epidemiology. The College of Veterinary Medicine has a strong focus on comparative medicine, providing expertise (e.g., histology, pathology, imaging, investigative surgery) and facilities to support preclinical & translational biomedical investigations. In addition, Purdue University provides exciting opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research through the NCI-funded Purdue University Center for Cancer Research, the Bindley Bioscience Center and Birck Nanotechnology Center in Discovery Park (http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/), the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and other academic departments and centers.

Tenure-track or Clinical-track Faculty Position Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Diagnostic Microbiology

The Department of Comparative Pathobiology (CPB) and the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at Purdue University invite applications for a 12-month, tenure-track or clinical-track veterinary diagnostic microbiologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Appointment to either the tenure-track or clinical-track system will depend on the career goals, qualifications, record of achievement, and preference of the successful applicant. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's education and experience. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (DVM or equivalent, or PhD) and postdoctoral experience in veterinary clinical microbiology. Preference will be given to candidates with a DVM or equivalent degree and diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists. Experience in delivery of diagnostic microbiology services in an accredited animal disease diagnostic laboratory and research training in molecular microbiology are preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including consulting with veterinary practitioners, and the ability to work collegially in a team-setting, are essential. Responsibilities of the position include providing leadership and supervision in all aspects of the ADDL bacteriology diagnostic service, and teaching veterinary microbiology in the veterinary technology and DVM programs. For a tenure track hire, development of an independent and/or collaborative research program is expected.

CPB has 37 faculty members and 11 of them have diagnostic service appointment in ADDL. Faculty have expertise and research interests in microbiology, virology, immunology, toxicology, parasitology, pathology, public health, and epidemiology.
