Abstract:

Since the completion of human genome sequencing project, the genomic technologies, as represented by microarrays and other high throughput SNP genotyping platforms, have developed exponentially. The rapid development of the technology has greatly accelerated our understanding of various forms of diseases. In my talk, I will present several platforms of genomics technologies and their applications. I will discuss their advances in assisting researchers to unveil the possible molecular mechanisms of complex disorders, such as alcoholism, and to understand the molecular pathways through gene expression and regulation. I will use several representative works we have performed in the Center for Medical Genomics at IUSM to illustrate what the genomics technologies could do to the study of diseases.
