State Fair Throws Spotlight on PVM
July 28, 2013
Through a cooperative effort with the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine will provide 29 surgeries over 13 days for visitors to observe during the Indiana State Fair August 2-18. The surgeries are needed to prepare Humane Society pets for adoption. The demonstrations will be conducted in the same area as Purdue Extension’s popcorn exhibit, immediately east of the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand. 2013 is the “Year of Popcorn” at the State Fair.
In addition to the surgery demonstrations, veterinarians and veterinary technicians will provide educational presentations for visitors, explaining what is new in veterinary medicine and showing how to care for pet dogs, cats and other animals. Also, veterinary students from the college will be on hand to visit with the public daily. To see a complete news release about Purdue Extension exhibits at the State Fair, click here.
Purdue Veterinary Medicine also will be represented during Purdue Day at the Fair August 9, when the College will host a booth along with a number of other Purdue colleges and units along State Fair Boulevard.
