Graduate and Postgraduate Programs
The School of Veterinary Medicine offers several postgraduate programs. This includes traditional post-baccalaureate graduate programs in the basic biological sciences, combined DVM/Ph.D program, combined DVM/M.S. program, post-DVM residency program, post-DVM graduate program, combined post-DVM and the residency/graduate program. Administratively, all the postgraduate programs (postgraduate and postdoctoral) are managed primarily at the departmental level. The School has three academic departments, Departments of Basic Medical Sciences, Veterinary Clinical Sciences and Comparative Pathobiology.
Research Programs
The Office of Research Programs was established in July 1987 to facilitate the creation of a stimulating research environment which aids the generation of innovative, fundable research programs which interact with communities of science within Purdue University, state, national and international agencies. Here you will find our faculty's research areas, proposal submissions information, research listed by categories, research news, USDA hatch projects and several good proposal writing tips.
International Programs in Veterinary Medicine

The Purdue comparative oncology program continues to evaluate effective ways to diagnose and treat cancer in animals. We may be able to offer potentially beneficial new therapies if your pet has been diagnosed with cancer.

Intern/Resident Matching Program
The School of Veterinary Medicine offers post D.V.M. students the opportunity to further their veterinary skills through internship and residency programs. Internships are offered by the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and are a 12-month clinical program providing advanced training in medicine and surgery. The program is designed to qualify the individual for entry into an approved residency program leading to board certification in a recognized veterinary specialty. Residencies designed to provide advanced training and to satisfy requirements for certification as specialists are offered in a variety of clinical areas by the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.
