Research
The Office of Research Programs provides administrative support and aims to facilitate research and research training in the College of Veterinary Medicine. By linking people, knowledge and first-class facilities in the pursuit of scientific discovery, the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine is well positioned to help solve existing and emerging animal and human health issues.
The College of Veterinary Medicine offers several postgraduate programs. This includes traditional post-baccalaureate graduate programs in the basic biological sciences, combined DVM/Ph.D program, combined DVM/M.S. program, post-DVM residency program, post-DVM graduate program, combined post-DVM and the residency/graduate program. Administratively, all the postgraduate programs (postgraduate and postdoctoral) are managed primarily at the departmental level. The College has three academic departments, Departments of Basic Medical Sciences, Veterinary Clinical Sciences and Comparative Pathobiology.
A clinical trial is research which tries to answer specific questions about drugs or new therapies in patients. Clinical trials are used to determine the safety and/or effectiveness of new healthcare options. Carefully conducted clinical trails are the fastest and safest way to investigate new ideas and find treatments that work.
The Center for Applied Ethology and Human-Animal Interaction was established in 1982 at Purdue University to study these relationships and to communicate its findings to scientists and the public. In 1997, the name was changed to Center for the Human-Animal Bond to reflect the relationship that exists between people and the animals that share this earth.
