Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical Engineering is an interdisciplinary program that is a joint effort of the Purdue Schools of Engineering, Science and Veterinary Medicine on the West Lafayette campus as well as the Purdue Schools of Engineering and Technology, and Science and the Indiana University Schools of Medicine and Dentistry on the Indiana University - Purdue University campus at Indianapolis. In addition, the program operates in close collaboration with other centers, including the Biomechanics and Biomaterials Research Center at Indianapolis. Founded on July 1, 1998, the Department serves as Purdue's focal point for educational, research, and service activities in this emerging and growing field that integrates engineering and the life sciences.

Medical Discovery Resource Unit
The (MDRU) promotes interdisciplinary research campus-wide by providing the professional expertise (e.g., in pathology, histology, epidemiology, imaging, etc.) and facilities needed to support translational biomedical investigation. It provides collaborative support for investigators in various academic departments on campus, in Discovery Park and in the local private-sector. It provides opportunities for hands-on learning and training of graduate, undergraduate and professional students with an interest in comparative biomedical research.
