Purdue’s Student Chapter of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists  (SCACVP) works to make pathology relevant to all veterinary students through various wet labs, guest speakers and other activities that highlight a career in Veterinary Pathology.  There are many avenues a veterinary pathologist may take whether working for the pharmaceutical industry, government, wildlife, academia, or as a consultant.  We will try to bring speakers from these different areas so that you can get a better idea of what opportunities are available in this unique field.
For this year we will have a series of lunch and learn sessions with 15 minute videos on Exotic Animals diseases from Plum Island’s Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.  These videos include topics like Foot and Mouth Disease Virus, African Horse Sickness, African Swine Fever, Sheep Pox Virus, and others.
Our tentative wet lab plans include labs focused on animal sample collection and familiarizing students with the clinical pathology lab and its procedures.  In the past we have done cytologic techniques and urinalysis labs.

  • We have permission to allow our club members to go down to the Animal Diagnostic Disease Laboratory (ADDL) for Gross Pathology Rounds.  Sessions begin at 4 pm on these dates.  Please arrive a littler earlier to sign in.
