Purdue’s Student Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners goal is to provide opportunities outside of the classroom to students who have an interest in learning more about horses and the equine industry.  Throughout the year we have several meetings covering a variety of equine topics.  We host several wet labs where students get hands on experience; examples include dentistry, joint injections, venipuncture, nasogastric intubation and abdominocentesis.  The club is also in charge of vaccinating Purdue’s horses in the fall and spring.  For the last couple of years students have traveled to Texas A&M to participate in wet labs hosted by the school.  The labs covered areas in reproduction, surgery, emergency care, radiology and ultrasound.  Some of the other opportunities offered through the equine club are large animal emergency team and foal watch. Since we are a large club fundraising plays a major role; we take part in the fall auction and have an exhibit during open house.

No equine experience is needed to join the club.  If you are interested in learning about horses stop by and see us on skit night!
