SVECCS is a highly active club at the Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine, featuring at least 3 lunch meetings and one critical care wet lab or other fun club activity per semester. Lunch meetings consist of emergency medicine-related presentations and include free lunch! Past presentations include such topics as “Decontamination and Drug Abuse” by Dr. Wismer from the Animal Poison Control Center and “Top 10 Pit Falls in Emergency Medicine” by Dr. Tony Johnson. A wet lab will also be scheduled for fall semester, which will provide valuable hands-on experience in an emergency medicine topic.

In addition, SVECCS members have the unique opportunity to assist veterinarians, veterinary students and technicians in the emergency and critical care portion of the small animal teaching hospital. Four hour shifts are available throughout the school year and allow SVECCS members to observe and assist during incoming emergencies. As you can see, SVECCS has many exciting activities planned for the 2006-2007 school year and we hope you choose to become a part of our club!
