The anesthesia section provides anesthesia and pain management support for all animals anesthetized at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Fourth year students rotate through the anesthesia service for a duration of 2.5 weeks.

Anesthesia-Analgesia Research Program:

The Purdue Comparative Anesthesiology and Pain Management Program (PCAPP) involves anesthesia and surgery faculty members from the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine, focusing on inhalants, injectable anesthetic combinations, and pain management and analgesic therapy research programs in both domestic and exotic animals.

The program offers graduate students the opportunity to focus on research methodology and skills in a selective area of anesthesiology and pain management.
