The Veterinary Teaching Hospital provides general veterinary services for small and large animals as well as specialized services for food animals, horses, dogs, cats, birds, and exotics in the areas of:

  • Dermatology
  • Cardiology
  • Dental
  • Behavior

Various sections within the hospital, such as Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Clinical Pathology, Pharmacy, and Central Supply, also provide support services for all species. These specialized services have sophisticated capabilities such as noninvasive ultrasonic imaging, radiography, and chemical analysis of blood, fluids, and other samples.

Surgical facilities are available for procedures ranging from routine neutering to open heart surgery, orthopedic, neurological and spinal operations, cancer surgery, laser surgery, cataract surgery, colic surgery in large animals, and other complex procedures.

A "state of the art" treadmill facility is also available to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of poor performance in the equine athlete.

In addition, the hospital maintains an Intensive Care Unit for the critically ill small animal patient, and a neonatal unit for large animal newborns.
