The focus of this course is basic principles of learning, training, and behavior modification and the practical application of those techniques as part of the veterinarian prescribed behavior treatment plan.
The differential diagnosis of a behavior problem and the establishment of a treatment plan are addressed in the fall DOGS! and Cat's course (2007 dates to be announced) .
Course Objectives of the DOGS! Course :

At the end of this course, participants will:

Be proficient at behavior problem prevention techniques

Understand puppy development and normal dog behavior

Be able to design and run puppy classes and adult training classes

Understand the principles of learning and behavior modification

Have knowledge of motivation-based, humane and effective training techniques

Be proficient at applying behavior modification techniques prescribed by a veterinarian in the treatment of common behavior problems, such as various applications of:
In-class workshops will focus on how to apply the principles of learning and behavior modification techniques to problem cases. Four hands-on practicum sessions will focus on puppy classes, training normal dogs, and on applying behavior modification techniques to problem dogs.
Who Should Participate:
In the continued support of the veterinary behavior team, both a veterinarian and veterinary technician from the same hospital may attend the course for the $1250.00 fee.
