The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences collaborates with faculty in the other departments and has research strengths in oncology, paralysis, diseases of bones and joints, experimental surgery, reproductive medicine, urology/nephrology, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, biosecurity and livestock herd health (especially in diseases of swine). Internships (including minority internships) are offered as a part of the clinical training program. Residencies are offered in large and small animal internal medicine, large and small and animal surgery, cardiology, ophthalmology, clinical oncology, and diagnostic imaging.

Graduate degree programs are also available, but must be arranged with VCS faculty members. Interdisciplinary Graduate programs are also available, i.e. Biological Sciences Doctoral Track (BSDT) and the Interdisciplinary Comparative Medicine Graduate Program (ICMGP).

Opportunities are available for Non-Purdue senior veterinary students to come to Purdue as part of an off-campus or externship experience. Non-traditional educational opportunities are available through an Academic Review Program and an ECFVG training program. In the Academic Review Program, graduates of foreign veterinary schools are assisted in their preparation for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). In the ECFVG program, foreign graduates who have already completed the NAVLE are enrolled in senior year courses and participate in supervised clinical experiences.
