Additional Information
This test detects the presence of the genes encoding the following E. coli virulence factors: STa, STb, LT, eae, F41, Stx2e, F18, and 987P.
STa, STb, LT, F41, and 987P are associated with ETEC (enterotoxigenic E. coli) strains.
The shiga toxin (Stx2e) is often associated with cases of edema disease.
F18 is associated with both ETEC and STEC strains.
Eae, also known as intimin, is associated with EPEC (enteropathogenic E. coli) strains.
